Content residency

A flexible, ongoing way to bring editorial thinking into your brand (without hiring someone full-time)

What is a Content Residency?

A Content Residency is an ongoing arrangement where I work with your team.

Every residency is bespoke and shaped around your needs, but could include:

  • set deliverables, like writing your weekly newsletter, feature articles or social content
  • fixed hours each fortnight or month for work like founder storytelling, thought leadership, or interviewing customers, experts or team members
  • dedicated days working alongside your team to develop content ideas and themes, refine brand voice and messaging, or act as an external editorial partner.

Some clients work with me on a very focused scope, which I manage independently so you can largely set and forget.

Others bring me in more deeply, working together regularly to shape content direction over time.

Perhaps this sounds familiar?

You have plenty of ideas for stories, but no time to develop them.

You know consistent content would help your brand grow, but you’re already juggling a dozen other priorities.

You’ve considered hiring someone full-time, but the budget or workload doesn’t quite justify it.

Or you’ve worked with freelancers before, only to discover that briefing, editing and managing the process still takes more time than you have.

In many cases, the challenge isn’t simply producing content.

It’s having someone experienced enough to step back, understand the bigger picture, and shape the narrative in the first place.

This is where a Content Residency comes in

A Content Residency is an ongoing editorial partnership.

Instead of bringing in a writer for one-off pieces, you have an experienced storytelling partner working alongside your brand over time.

Someone who understands your voice, your audience and your priorities.

Someone who can not only create content, but help guide what that content should be.

The result is a more thoughtful, consistent and strategic approach to storytelling.

Why ongoing storytelling works better

When I work with a brand over time, something important happens.

I begin to understand the nuance of the brand voice. I learn what resonates with your audience. I see where opportunities for stronger storytelling exist.

That familiarity allows me to contribute far more strategically than I could in a one-off project.

Rather than simply delivering content, I’m able to bring an editorial lens to everything we create, from refining ideas, to shaping narratives and ensuring the message remains clear and compelling.

It becomes less about producing content, and more about building a narrative your audience wants to follow.

What a Content Residency might include

Every residency is shaped around the needs of the client.

Some need light editorial support — perhaps a weekly newsletter or ongoing blog content.

Others bring me in as a strategic partner to help guide their broader content direction.

A residency might include:

  • Narrative and messaging development
  • Editorial strategy and content planning
  • Founder storytelling and thought leadership
  • Feature-style articles and interviews
  • Newsletters and editorial content
  • Website and brand storytelling
  • LinkedIn and social storytelling
  • Editing and refining existing content
  • Interviewing founders, customers or team members to uncover meaningful stories

In some cases, I also work closely with internal teams to ensure editorial and commercial storytelling sit comfortably alongside one another.

A flexible partnership model

Content Residencies are intentionally flexible.

They can scale up or down depending on the needs of your business, your projects, or your internal team.

For some businesses, this might involve producing a small number of editorial pieces each month.

For others, it might mean reserving a dedicated day each week to work more closely with the team, acting as an external editorial lead, content strategist or storytelling partner.

The structure is always designed collaboratively, based on what will be most useful for the business.
