I am Jil Hogan, a seasoned journalist, editor, columnist, producer and copywriter, who is passionate about telling great stories.
From more than a decade working in the media I know what makes people tick, what makes people click, and what makes people read.
After completing a Masters of Journalism at Queensland University of Technology in 2010, I worked for Fairfax Media for five years as a reporter, columnist, digital producer and magazine editor at The Canberra Times, and also wrote for publications including Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times, Newcastle Herald, and more.
I was also the Canberra editor for Good Food, one of Australia’s leading sources for independent restaurant reviews and the latest in eating out and eating in, and was a restaurant reviewer for the National Good Food Guide.
Since 2018, I have worked as a freelance journalist and copywriter. As well as writing for media outlets, I work closely with agencies, small businesses, start-ups and brands to help nail their content.
As a journalist, I have written for Australian and international outlets including Domain, Good Food, The Canberra Times, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Australian Financial Review, and SilverKris Magazine.
I have also crafted words for clients including Westfield Australia, Language Design, Canberra Airport, Adelaide Oval, Journey Beyond, Museum of Brisbane, Canberra District Wine Industry Association, Cypher Brewing, and many more.
